Back to School 2019

Summer is slowly winding down and the gears in my head are spinning as I try to make sure I’ve checked off all the boxes necessary so the kids are ready to start school. Thankfully I ordered our kids school supplies online a few months ago so no need to walk the store aisles debating on erasers/pencil cases/binders/etc. I’ve put together a list of clothing sales below that are worth checking out. The Patagonia one is hard to beat if you can wrap your head around buying a down jacket when it’s still in the 90’s outside! After living in the south for almost 13 years now, I know better than to think the cold (or even cool) weather is anywhere close but I’ll cross my fingers again and hope this year is different! I’ve also compiled my top picks for backpacks, lunch essentials, sneakers and pajamas! Hope this helps as you switch gears from laid back/summer mode back into routine/school year mode!
Xx, Heather

Backpacks come in all shapes and sizes…the two most important things I look for are size and durability. Make sure the overall dimensions will fit the different binders, etc. they will need to lug around for the year if they’re in grade school. Other features that might be selling points could be interior and exterior pockets, side pockets to hold water bottles, a carry handle on top, adjustable chest straps, reflective trim, the material it’s made of (think durability) and if it has a warranty or not! That last part might sound crazy but some of these bags are expensive and with a good warranty you can count of them lasting several years.

Packing my kids lunches is way down on my list of favorite things to do but today I’m sharing some of my go-to products that make it just a little easier on a daily basis! I can’t even count how many water bottles we’ve plowed through at our house…the straw falls off, they leak all over everything in the backpack, the plastic smells and I could go on and on…but these three are keepers! Take a look at the different spouts and sizes to find which one is best for your kid(s). Lunch boxes are also tricky, these 3 hit home for different reasons – the first is the one we’ve used the most but if you have a kid who really enjoys warm foods – the Omie delivers and their utensils and carry case are the perfect accessory. The thermos insert can also be removed for days when it’s not needed to create additional room for other cold items. The PlanetBox Rover is the most expensive but it has some great features that may warrant the price tag for some. It’s made of stainless steel, is dishwasher safe, has 5 different sections allowing for a good variety, includes two dipper containers for wet foods, and it contains no lead, PVC, Phthalates or BPA materials. Check out the 2 different types of reusable snack bags too – it’s amazing how they cut down our consumption of plastic ziplock bags! The Lunch Notes From Me are new for us this year but I think they’re going to be a hit with both of our kids. Here’s hoping they will create lots of smiles and laughs!
